Development history of seismic support in China

After the Wenchuan earthquake on May 12, 2008, the Ministry of construction revised the original GB50011-2001 (code for seismic design of buildings) and seismic support, so as to achieve: no collapse in a large earthquake, repairable in a medium earthquake, and not bad in a small earthquake.

On October 9, 2014, the Ministry of housing and urban rural development and the General Administration of quality supervision, inspection and Quarantine of the peoples Republic of China officially promulgated the code for seismic design of building electromechanical engineering as the national standard, with the number of gb50981-2014, which will be enforced from August 1, 2015.

Basic design requirements: the standard is to make the engineering facilities such as water supply and drainage, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, gas, heat, communication, fire control, smoke control and other facilities of the building earthquake resistant to prevent secondary injury.

Design scope of seismic supports and hangers:

1. Scope of application of anti-seismic supports and hangers for cold and hot water, fire protection, air conditioning and other piping systems:

All equipment exceeding 1.8kn in the suspended pipeline;

All domestic water supply and fire fighting piping systems greater than or equal to DN65.

2. Application scope of anti-seismic supports and hangers for air conditioning and ventilation pipelines:

All air duct systems with a diameter greater than or equal to 0.7m;

All rectangular air ducts with rectangular sectional area greater than or equal to 0.38 ㎡.

3. Scope of application of anti-seismic supports and hangers for power system pipeline and cable tray system:

All electrical piping with inner diameter greater than or equal to 60mm;

All cable trays, cable ladders, cable boxes and bus ducts with a gravity greater than or equal to 150n/m.

4. When the mass of the accessories installed in the pipeline is greater than 25kg, lateral and longitudinal seismic supports and hangers should also be set.

On March 4, 2015, the Ministry of housing and urban rural development issued (general technical conditions for seismic supports and hangers of building electromechanical equipment), No.: cj/t476-2015

On March 1st, 2016, the code for installation and acceptance of seismic supports and hangers (cecs420:2015) issued by the China Engineering Construction Association standard was implemented.

It can be seen that building electromechanical earthquake resistance is the requirement of the will of peoples livelihood, the trend of social development, and an irresistible major event conducive to peoples livelihood.
